The Northwest Intentional Communities Association offers no endorsement of the communities listed on this page or anywhere in any or our publications. You need to carefully check them outyourself. We do not verify any information communities provide us, we simply publish it as we get it. For more information about finding the right community there are good articles in the Intentional Communities Directory or in Communities Magazine.

We currently co-own with another couple and they have moved out. We're looking for renters in the meantime but eventually want to sell their half to another couple (a couple with one small child is welcome too!). We have one basement renter too.

The house is 2700 sq. ft., 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms. Large common areas. Newly remodeled kitchen. We have over .5 acre of organic, garden-able land, 7 mature fruit trees, a chicken coop (sans chickens but we welcome yours), outbuilding (aka music room and movie theater) and lots of storage.

We are 15 mins from downtown Seattle (probably faster by our new light rail!)

Since it takes time to get to know folks, as well as decide if this is the right decision for you, we're renting the rooms out in 6 month chunks so that we don't rush into a decision.

That said, the last couple didn't put money down, so the "buy in" is not high (in fact, all it ends up being is mortgage payment and utilities).
Currently the mortgage is $2600 (you pay 1/2) and we ask $1600/month to cover all utilities and house maintenance. We'd love a down payment for more equity in the house, but that is not required.
Please contact us to see the house, meet us, or ask any further questions.

$600 for 1 bdrm in our large farmhouse-style home. Available October 1st.
Efficient W/D, DW, 4-paned windows.
Hardwood floors, newly remodeled kitchen. 3 total bathrooms (one would be yours). 6 month lease, but negotiable depending on your circumstances.
15 mins to downtown, close to highway, close to bus lines, 2 mi from light rail.

Three folks already live here, but there is ample room for privacy and large common spaces. Lots of storage! Outbuilding is used as music space, movie theater, or anything else.
We have lived in community for years and are looking for progressive, spiritual, fun-loving folks (would love vegetarians or vegans, but we have currently live with awesome omnivores).
Website has pictures.

Wedgwood Co-op

We are an intentional co-op in NE Seattle. Come join us! Our home is hearty, vibrant, engaging, and conscious, established in the neighborhood for 10 years & counting, and has a sunny upstairs room available come early September, another room opens November 1st.

A few treasures include garden space, work/storage space in our mudroom, a fire pit, a handmade cob oven, worm bin, compost bins, and large upstairs common space (with a wood burning stove) - big enough to host all sorts of functions like building seminars and conscious film presentations! There is street parking, easy commutes on bicycle, and the 71 & 76 bus has a stop right in front of the house that will take you downtown.

We are a home with a living philosophy that highlights caring for each other, our community, and our earth. We take part in bi-weekly meetings to discuss house issues, enjoy sharing meals, share garden/ house chores, food staples, bylaws, and goofiness.

We are looking for someone who is willing to contribute to help build and nurture what it means to be part of a co-op house, making a family out of roommates! This means open communication, decisions by consensus, participation, plus love for sustainable living and that all members of our family have respect for each others goals, values, personal evolution, and what we can offer and provide as a house to our extended tribe throughout the city.

Both rooms are $399 + food staples & utilities at $110
Deposit required when you move in

Our family of four (mom, dad, and two children), recently purchased 8.5 acres of beautiful land in a very scenic location near Mount Vernon, WA. The land currently has a good well and good septic system, but it would be prohibitively expensive to bring in power. There is no dwelling currently on the land, but we are open to a yurt, trailer, straw bale house, or other creative homes.
We are interested in sharing this venture with another like-minded family, couple or individual in order to share expenses, work, and lifestyle. Your buy-in would be approximately $400.00 per month and preferably half of the solar/generator power system. We currently have an estimate for $16,000 for the power system. For your investment, we would explore legal options to protect your (and our) investment. We could share monthly expenses (such as propane).
The land would probably not support horses, but we do hope to have two to four llamas, goats, and chickens. There is also a nice area for a large garden. On the land are large cedar trees, a salmon creek, a seasonal pond, and a spring.
We are non-drug/alcohol users and relatively progressive. If you have a vision and want to co-create a sustainable lifestyle, please contact us. If interested in buying outright, the price is $82,500.

Interested in living off-grid?
Our family of four (mom, dad, and two children), recently purchased 8.5 acres of beautiful land in a very scenic location near Mount Vernon, WA. The land currently has a well and septic, but it would be prohibitively expensive to bring in power. There is no dwelling currently on the land, but we are open to a yurt, trailer, straw bale house, or other creative homes.
We are interested in sharing this venture with another like-minded family, couple or individual in order to share expenses, work, and lifestyle. Your buy-in would be approximately $450.00 per month and preferably half of the solar/generator power system. We currently have an estimate for $16,000 for the power system. For your investment, we would explore legal options to protect your (and our) investment. Monthly shared expenses would include propane/bio-diesel costs and half of satellite internet cost of $100.00/month.
The land would probably not support horses, but we do hope to have two to four pack llamas, goats, and perhaps chickens.
We are non-drug/alcohol users and relatively progressive. If you have a vision and want to co-create a sustainable lifestyle, please contact us. Upon mutual agreement, references, resumes, and credit reports will be shared.
