The
Northwest Intentional Communities Association offers no
endorsement of the communities listed on this page or anywhere in any or
our publications. You need to carefully check them outyourself. We do not verify
any information communities provide us, we simply publish it as we get
it. For more information about finding the right community there are good articles in the

Home for Rent in Existing Community Puget Ridge Cohousing Seattle , Washington Posted On 3/24/2009, Last Updated On 3/24/2009 Lovely town home available for rent. Two full bedrooms; plus one additional small bedroom that's great as a child's room, guest room or study; plus one small room adjacent to upstairs bedroom for storage or study. Two full bathrooms. Full kitchen, living room and some storage. Lots of light. Prefer 1-2 year lease but will consider monthly rental. Approx. 1200 square feet. Rent: $1620/month. First, last, $500 deposit. N/S, no pets. Move in April 1, earlier possible. (March 1 onward.) Puget Ridge Cohousing is a beautiful place to live with many wonderful amenities. However, first and foremost your priority should be that of wishing to experience living in Cohousing as a lifestyle. Renters here are expected to fully commit to and fulfill the obligations of being a community member. If you have owned and maintained a home previously, you'll find living here requires about the same amount of time and effort. If you have always rented previously, Cohousing definitely requires more time and effort than you might be used to. The biggest rewards in living here come from contributing to and being in community with your neighbors. Renting is a great way to experience cohousing. We seek to get onto land QUICKLY WITHOUT UNDUE HASTE. If you are more interested in discussing theory, other groups will serve your needs better. Polyamory is the practice of being open to more than one emotionally close relationship at a time (sex accepted as an optional expression of the caring feelings), openly and honestly. Learn more about polyamory at http://lovingmorenonprofit.org and http://polyamoryhandbook.com, numerous other sites. A polyamorous group does not mean that everyone is sexual with everyone else (orientations permitting), just that the option is there. Nonpoly partners welcome, if comfortable living in community with poly people. We seek a rural area (but not remote wilderness) in the Pacific NW, ideally near Eugene, Oregon, but somewhere in OR or WA west of the Cascades. Seek to grow most of our own food, have own water supply, at least partially off-grid; probably have a few chickens, may have goats, sheep, llamas, etc. Not hermits; want to continue interactions with the larger community. Function by cooperation, consensus, caring. Seek people eager to be active--discussions via email at this formative stage; financial commitment to buy land etc.; then the physical and other work when on land. Lurkers, control freaks and doormats, the socially challenged, and those allergic to responsibility need not apply. Write petebenson@starpower.net. We are a "green", 37 residence condominium development and cohousing community composed of private homes with full kitchens supplemented by extensive common facilities. The Village is on 3.73 acres that includes play areas, vineyards, extensive vegetable gardens, and mature fruit and nut trees. Members of the community share a growing concern for the environment and a desire to live lightly upon the earth, while strengthening social ties that are lost in the rushed and hectic pace of life today. Residents have begun moving in this month (February 2009) and we are sharing 2 meals per week with the agreement to share five meals per week in the future, especially once we complete our dining hall. We're using our 1912 farmhouse for community meals until the dining hall is completed. At this writing we have six units available. Please check our Developer's website for the most recent information on units available at columbiaecovillage.net. Our youth contingent ranging in age from pre-natal to 14 numbers a dozen, several of whom are home-schooled. Our project completed in summer 2007 when most of us moved into our locally 'green' built homes. We have 36 eco-friendly duplex style units on 9 acres of land in sizes ranging from 2 to 5 bedrooms. Three neighbourhoods cluster around our 3,500 square foot common house where we gather for celebrations, meals, yoga, arts, music and community meetings. We also have two guest rooms, children's play room, and laundry facilities. Our large well-tended community garden produced a wonderful harvest last summer and we were the watchful hosts to a family of mallards on our protected wetlands. Our workshop hums with projects built by and for individuals and the community. Two families are downsizing in the community creating an opportunity for new members to join us in a 5 and a 3-bedroom unit. The 5-bedroom 1746 sq ft 2 level home has a spacious open plan living, dining and kitchen area, 2 bed/work/play/rooms down and 2 upstairs with a master suite and half bath, 2-4pc bathrooms, and a utility room, all set on a dry concrete heated crawlspace. $389,000 3-bedroom 1375 sq ft 2 level home includes above features less two upstairs rooms. Both homes feature landscaped side and back yards. $349,900 Contact: Guy Milner Email Address: Web Address: http://www.creeksidecommons.ca Search for a posting |
