Seek Members for Forming Community Tacoma Urban Homestead Tacoma , Washington Posted On 7/29/2011, Last Updated On 7/29/2011 Looking for housemates to live in an intentional community committed to urban homesteading and its various facets in Tacoma! The house is located in urban Tacoma and hopes to be an educational space for the Tacoma community as to the possibilities of homesteading within the urban context. The house is beautiful and affordable (1500/mo for 5 bedroom house) with ample opportunities for planting, natural building, animal keeping (chickens and bees, oh my!), and whatever else your little heart could dream of! Housemates must all be committed to being stewards of this spaceship earth and building healthy, strong community within and for our lovely Tacoma. There are three of us in our mid 20s currently committed to the house leaving three more bedrooms to be filled with wonderful people and bustling activity. Looking forward to meeting you and potentially living with you in this amazing space! We spend a lot of time interacting in our common spaces by sharing meals, movies and great discussion, but there is also a lot of space for individual privacy and quiet. The room we have available is on the 3rd (top) floor of the house. Please view the website for the Evergreen Land Trust (www.evergreenlandtrust.org) for information regarding our community and our sister communities. We are centrally located and have easy access to Seattle University and University of Washington, local bus lines, downtown, I-5, local parks. Our base dues start at $470/month with additional contribution for communal food ($180). Your final dues contribution is based on a variety of factors and we have additional charges or deductions for guests and vacation. If you are interested in pursuing living in our community you will get a sample of our dues contribution sheet, our policies record, and a general outline of things to consider in pursing living in this community from your community sponsor. Living in our community involves a monthly meeting, communal and individual workdays, budgeting and planning, and generally just taking good care of the amazing house we live in.
