Front of House
King Edward Collective has been a cooperative household for over 30 years in Vancouver BC. We share vegetarian meals, social gatherings, environmental consciousness, ideas and laughter. Our household is usually made up of 7 adults, plus a toddler. This is a special place to live, and enriches the lives of those that live here.
We buy our groceries primarily from local organic suppliers. Each member of the community cooks one vegetarian dinner per week, and we share food shopping and household chores.
King Edward regularly hosts members of our extended community as dinner or party guests, and for special events, such as musical rehearsals, intentional community study groups, barbeques, Hops N' Tunes and clothing swaps. Our community extends to many people who have touched our lives as past housemates, or the many friends who are regular visitors to our home.
We have more composters per capita than any place that we know of, and gargoyles abound in our yard. This is a home where you can hear live classical music while acupuncture takes place downstairs. We have a wildlife tree in our backyard that lists the varieties of bird life that we have counted in our natural habitat. We have created a front yard that is filled with plant life indigenous to the Pacific Northwest. Our large character home has hardwood floors, a fireplace, big trees and a great view of the mountains and the city. We are close to two major bus routes, and we have great storage for bicycles.
