Mystique Intentional Community at Kootenay Lodge and Farm north of Nelson, British Columbia, has 21 acres of spectacular rural land encompassing field, forest, and beach on Kootenay Lake. We have two creeks running through the property, two wells, and an orchard with hundreds of fruit trees. Permanent structures include a large lodge with four bedrooms where community members live, three duplex cabins that generate income through summer tourist rentals and accommodate community visitors and members, a chicken barn and a large cattle barn that is being renovated to include a woodshop downstairs and a large workshop/performance space and apartment upstairs.
As a forming community, we are in the process of developing a number of small businesses. Our greenhouse and cultivated land provide market crops that are sold locally. A commercial kitchen is being designed, we have the woodshop available, the cabins are for rent, and we offer a variety of holistic workshops. Our vision includes the farm becoming a healing retreat, including cleansing food and health education. We seek to expand our use of alternative energy and building, to pursue permaculture techniques, and to become organically certified. There is room here for many possibilities, room for more dwellings, and room for people walking the path of love.
The community is looking for new members with the resources and willingness to come and help our community to expand. We aim to live simply, and are willing to do the work necessary to grow the very best food possible, pursue excellence in health, teach our children values and magic, and never halt our personal growth. The people who are living here have a variety of eating styles. Some have recently been raising chicken and ducks and appreciating the eggs we receive, as well as occasionally having duck soup. Some are vegetarians, some are vegans, and most value learning more about and implementing more raw and nourishing foods into our diets.
We are committed to creating a loving and sustainable community that gives back to the Earth--a community that gathers to celebrate the experiences of life throughout the seasons. We encourage individuality and diversity in our members, asking only for the courage to positively transform ourselves and the world.
Love, love, love.
