The basics: A carpeted basement room is available on approximately October 1. We are looking for a clean, respectful, communicative, mature (regardless of age) roomie.

The move-in cost is first and last months’ rent ($800 total). Utilities are shared and are very reasonable.

The details: We seek to fashion a warm and respectful home filled with healthy people who are sensitive to others’ needs, enjoy each other’s company, communicate well, and are looking to share more than just rent and expenses. What we really want is to have all that AND to create a place where residents can share ideas, strength, and energy to promote the evolution of our species.

Sharing food and meals in some FUN-ctional way is a part of the vision. We have already started a big organic garden and share in the produce! We are omnivorous, leaning toward vegetarian. We like to have fun, but care of the home environment is paramount.

The house is on a quiet residential street near multiple bus lines (28, 15) and a convenient bike path that links seamlessly to the Burke-Gilman Trail to Fremont and the University of Washington. There is a large fenced backyard with a huge fir tree, and a big covered deck—perfect for BBQs and sunsets. We have free WD on site; high-speed internet is available. We have no dishwasher, so we all have to stay on top of that situation.

There are two rooms upstairs divided by a shared full bath with tub. One is south-facing and has real wood walls and many built-ins (Gary, 27, artist/architect/auto mechanic, lives here). The other is significantly larger and faces north, and so should be cooler in the summer. Both upstairs rooms are carpeted.

On the main floor there is a small, sunny room (Shiva 30, writer/graduate student, lives here). I live in the room next to Shiva. The main floor has a second full bath shared with our lovely basement dweller Jenny—21, crafty Americorps geek.

Pets: We are full up. I have two VERY sweet tabbie cats, and Gary brought up his big mellow kitty, too. We’re thinking about chickens, though.

About me: I'm 37, male, a naturopathic doctor, a part-time college professor (microbiology, biochemistry, pharmacology), and an ENTP, if that means anything to you. I'm progressive, live healthily, love the outdoors, and strive to create health, connection, and fun for everything around me. I minimize my ecological footprint: I walk and bike as much as possible, conserve resources, avoid supporting misbehaving corporations, eat local organic food as much as possible, etc.
