 Ecclesia Metaphysicae Occidentalis (EMO)
“Ecclesia (lat) is a term derived from the Greek root ekklesia, which literally means a ‘gathering’ of citizens, in an ancient Greek city-state, or a ‘called-out assembly’; usually defined as ‘gathering of the called-out ones’ [1] or ‘gathering of those summoned’ [2].”
The Ecclesia Metaphysicae Occidentalis (EMO), or the Collective of Western Metaphysics, is an initiative to establish an intentional collective-community based on the wisdom of perennial knowledge, the primordial metaphysical tradition that is the foundation of all religion, philosophy, and knowledge of mankind. This tradition had to be clearly defined and collected into a comprehensive body of knowledge, and this enormous task was achieved by many different authors over the last two centuries, with the most remarkable effort attributed to Rene Guenon and the following Perennialist movement (Frithjoh Schuon, Ananda Coomaraswamy, Julius Evola, Titus Burchardt, etc.).
Over the last century and especially the last decade, the effects and consequences of modernity have become apparent: the degradation of education, the destruction of natural environments, capitalist globalization, resource wars, extreme political corruption and degeneration, etc. In the light of these events there is a need for a radical change within both the consciousness of the individual and the collective. The Ecclesia is an effort to organize interested individuals to create a spiritual community based on the perennial knowledge of all primordial traditions.
The realization of the collective is divided into two major phases:
Phase I: The gathering of the interested parties into a virtual community, where we can discuss the foundations and all other details of the Ecclesia. This is a preparation phase where theoretical details could be worked out about the actual functioning, the means of operations, and the goals of the collective.
Phase II: The realization of the collective by acquiring land and establishing a community based on existing cohousing and intentional community models, in a permacultural, self-governed, relocalized, self-sustainable form.
It is imperative that the spiritual foundation of the collective be laid on the essence of perennial knowledge. The metaphysical tradition is supranational, beyond religions (but including all religions at the same time), and encouraging universal thinking.
