Tribal Days Cooperative
Eugene, Oregon, And Anywhere,
United States
We are a tribe that is spread out across the Eugene area. We are not a land-based community (though we often talk of evolving in that direction). Rather, our community is based around doing “tribal days” together, in which one or more families assemble in the home of another family, sharing our work, our play, our resources, our skills, our support. Another day in the week is arranged for reciprocating. At this time we have tribal days happening two to five days a week. We also have biweekly parent meetings in which we talk about our kids and our parenting, read from interesting parenting books, discuss our personal stuff, share what’s been working or not working, plan for the coming weeks or year... often with a potluck! We endeavor to love and grow together, to take on projects together, to parent together, to value diversity.
“Tribal days” is a concept that we feel inspired to share with others. If you’re in another part of the world but looking to create community around yourself, feel free to contact us to ask questions, or offer suggestions.
The individuals in this group have a wide range of gifts and skills. To name some: primitive/earth skills, electricity-free living, whole foods, making-rather-than-buying, bike and foot transport, unschooling, alternative schooling, Enki/Waldorf homeschooling, conscious parenting (influenced by “The Continuum Concept,” “Hold On to Your Kids,” “Unconditional Parenting,” and other books), high-level musicianship (hippy, professional jazz, Cuban, and classical) and dance (classical, modern, breakdance, and Argentine tango included), emotional intimacy, and personal/spiritual growth paths (Eckhart Tolle, Abraham-Hicks, Heart of Now, Co-Counseling, the Yogas, Nonviolent Communication, and more).
I have added a link (see “website” above) to the article that inspired us to form our tribe.
