Olympia Housing Cooperative: Equity Access Project
OLYMPIA, Washington,
United States
Working under a grant from the NW Cooperative Development Center here in Olympia. A private home owner is working with a design team/steering committee with technical assistance from the NWCDC to conduct a feasibility study for transferring privately held property equity into cooperative shareholding ownership. The intent is to design a replicable model that will enable people in community to have 'equity access' at whatever income and socio-economic status.
At the close of the grant period, this group will seek to be public educators about this form of equity/asset building for the broader community as potential coop members. The USDA is the point of origin for these supporting funds for coop development. This is a long standing form of mutual support in the United States that deserves more public information dissemination.
