Rethinking community - pioneering a new direction for adult living.
McKenzie Green Commons will become an owner occupied community of 12 green built homes where active adults (55+) can live more simply in smaller, energy efficient homes within a tranquil natural setting.
Located in Bellingham, Washington's desirable Fairhaven Neighborhood, McKenzie Green Commons will be a intentional residential community of individually owned, single family homes where the land, a social hall, and shared gardens have common ownership. This is intended to be a collaborative community, having the best features of a pocket neighborhood and co-housing.
We seek neighbors who care deeply about our environment and the impact we have on our planet, and where there is a shared desire to have relationships that are meaningful. Here, there will be the opportunity to participate in a self-managed neighborhood, and to find a balance between community and the need for privacy and independence.
And this, just a short walk to the trails, library, market, and restaurants of Fairhaven.
